Best season: summer. Summer offers the most reliable, comfortable weather for lake and trail activities — expect crisp mountain mornings around 40–45°F that warm into the low-to-mid 60s by afternoon with occasional brief mountain showers. Boating, fishing Hebgen Lake and the South Fork/Madison River, long daylight for hiking and biking, and excellent wildlife viewing (early morning and evening) are all at their peak. Crowds are higher than shoulder seasons due to the campground's proximity to West Yellowstone and to Peak months: July, August, June, September Avoid: October, November, December, January
Described as best season: reliable weather for lake activities; peak season May–Sept.
