The elevation is 5,700 ft. NOTE: The West Entrance to Yellowstone National Park is 57 miles south of campground. The campground is between the Gallatin River and U.S. Rt. 191 with most campsites overlooking the river. A lack of vegetation, both understory and overstory, means there is little shade and only fair privacy. Traffic noise can be distracting Firewood available for a fee. Big Sky offers a wide range of activities including rafting, bike rentals, golf, summer weekend concerts, a cook's night out, and more. Rafting outfitters are available . This is bear country; practice safe food storage techniques. Food storage bear proof boxes are available around campground.

In Big Sky, MT, at the intersection State Rt. 64 and US Rt. 191, take Rt. 191 north 8.1 miles to campground sign. Turn left into campground.

Best season: summer. Summer offers the warmest, most reliable weather (daytime highs typically in the mid-60s to upper-70s °F, nights in the 40s–50s at 5,700 ft) and full access to the Gallatin River for fishing, swimming, and boating. Trails and meadow wildflowers are at their peak from late June through August, making hiking and wildlife viewing excellent, though weekends in July–August are busiest and campsites fill quickly. Moose Creek Flat Campground offers several single-family campsites equipped with picnic tables and campfire rings, as well as a group picnic area for day use that can accommodate up to 50 people. Vault toilets, drinking water via hand pump, and trash collection are available. Roads are paved, but parking spurs are gravel. The campground is fully accessible and lies within an open meadow next to the Gallatin River.
