Atlantic City Campground sits in the high-elevation alpine country near the historic gold rush town of Atlantic City, Wyoming, operated by the Bureau of Land Management. The small campground offers tree-sheltered sites with aspens and shade, vault toilets, potable water, and fire rings. Summer brings reliable access, cool nights, and daytime highs that make it a base for hiking, fishing, and biking in the surrounding Wind River Range foothills.
The site consists of 18 campsites and can accommodate large recreational vehicles; it is ADA accessible. The campground is a fee site with a typical use season of June 1 - October 31 and has seasonal closures.
Weather and SeasonsBest season: summer. Summer offers the most reliable access and the warmest, most comfortable weather at this high-elevation site — expect daytime highs roughly 60–80°F and cool nights in the 30s–40s. Trails, historic South Pass sites, and scenic drives are fully accessible and water is turned on at the campground, making camping, hiking, wildlife viewing, and stargazing ideal. Natural Features and SceneryThe campground occupies wooded high-desert mountain terrain with aspens and conifers providing shade across well-spaced sites. South Pass marks the natural gateway where gold rush pioneers crossed the Continental Divide. This is active bear country. The surrounding BLM land offers open riding terrain for UTVs, and the high elevation delivers big Wyoming skies for stargazing.
