Amenities beyond vault toilets, water, and a fire ring don't exist here. Afternoon thunderstorms are common, bear country protocols apply, and the host is only occasionally present, so self-sufficient campers will fare far better than those expecting any services.
Compare with similar sites, watch availability, and build a packing list — Camp Sage handles all of it.
Best season: summer. Summer is the best time to visit because the campground is fully open (June 1–Oct 31), on-site water is flowing, and the high-elevation weather is at its mildest — expect daytime highs around 65–80°F and nighttime lows in the 30s–40s. This is prime time for relaxed tent or small-RV camping, stargazing in low-light skies, and day trips into the South Pass historic landscape; afternoon thunderstorms are possible, so plan activities for mornings and early afternoons. Expect moderate use — the 10‑c Peak months: July, August, September, June Avoid: November, December, January, February
Open June–Oct; mild highs ~65–80°F—best time to visit and use water facilities.
Fee site with seasonal use (typical use season June 1 - October 31). Seasonal closures occur and a host may be present occasionally. Garbage collection is provided; visitors should be aware this is bear country.
