Summer offers the most reliable access and the mildest weather at this 8,028 ft gulch—daytime highs typically range from the mid-60s to mid-70s °F with cool nights in the 30s–40s. Water is turned on and a volunteer host is often present, making the campground fully usable, and dawn/dusk are prime for wildlife viewing (elk, mule deer, and raptors are commonly seen). Visitor levels are generally low to moderate compared with lower-elevation parks, so you get quiet nights and good wildlife viewing, Peak months: July, August, June, September Avoid: November, December, January, February
