Anglers and tent campers who want a walk-in site away from the RV area will find the lily-pad trout lake and bear-box-equipped sites hard to beat for $20 cash. Early July through August hits the sweet spot before mosquitoes thin out.
The steep, rocky access road is genuinely hard on rigs, and there are no hookups, dump station, or showers anywhere on site. No Verizon signal either, so anyone who needs connectivity will be hiking to a hilltop to get a bar of AT&T.

The Fiddlers Lake Campground has 20 campsites on the shores of a scenic mountain lake. There are trails leading into the Popo Agie Wilderness and also south to nearby lakes. No trailers over 40 feet long. Amenities include, five vault toilets, picnic tables, and cook grates. Christina Lake Trail Head is located nearby and has a vault toiltet and horse corrals. Stay limit is 16 days.

The elevation is 9,400 ft. The campground hugs the shore of the shallow, natural Fiddler's Lake. All the pull-throughs are adjacent to the lake while most back-ins are tucked into the surrounding Lodgepole pines. The tent sites are all walk-in and well separated from the combined (RV/tent) sites. Generally, all the camp sites are well separated and private. The campground has an undiscovered appearance. Interesting day trips are the Fire Lookout Tower with spectacular views and the semi-ghost towns of South Pass and Atlantic City. This is bear country; practice safe food storage technique. Use provided bear-proof food storage box.
Open June 1 through Labor Day.
There is one hand pump located near the walk-in tent site area.
Fiddler's Lake is about 50 acres. Power boats are limited to electric motors.
The parking aprons are gravel. An RV waste station is located next to the City of Lander Public Works Dept. on Buena Vista Dr. in Lander, WY. There is no potable water.
In Lander, WY, at intersection of Main St. and 5th St., take 5th St. south 0.7 miles to Fremont St./Sinks Canyon State Park signs. Turn right onto Fremont St./State Rt. 131 and go 17.3 miles to a "Y" intersection (Forest Rt. 300). Bear left onto Rt. 300 and go 5.7 miles to campground sign. Turn right at sign and go 0.3 miles to campground. NOTE: State Rt. 131 turns into dirt after 10 miles. At this point, the road becomes single-lane, rocky, steep and washboard - not RV friendly.

Mid-June through Labor Day delivers the best conditions. Daytime temps at this elevation run 60-75°F with cool nights dropping to 30-45°F, perfect for sleeping and morning fishing when the lake is calm. The short season aligns with stable weather and peak trout activity. Heavy snow closes access the rest of the year. Mosquitoes can be thick, especially earlier in summer, so bring repellent and lures instead of live bait for the lily pads.
Open mid-June–Labor Day; best conditions (60–75°F days, cool nights) and peak access to activities.
Fiddlers Lake Campground offers basic amenities with a rustic charm. According to authoritative sources, the campground has five vault toilets, 19 picnic tables, and 19 cook grates available for campers.
