Best Time to Camp at Altamont

Summer arrives as a gentle friend at Altamont, bringing pleasantly mild to warm days perfect for outdoor celebrations and mountain exploration. The high elevation ensures cool, refreshing evenings even during July's peak warmth. While the nearby scenic byway occasionally reminds visitors of civilization's proximity, the sounds of rustling aspen leaves and mountain breezes quickly restore the wilderness ambiance. Winter transforms this mountain sanctuary into a snow-laden wonderland, with significant snowfall and freezing temperatures creating a dramatically different but equally beautiful landscape.
