Tucked among whispering pines and sprawling live oaks, Grayton Beach State Park Campground 2 offers your gateway to one of Florida's most pristine coastal treasures, where sugar-white beaches meet the turquoise Gulf waters. With shaded campsites, scenic boardwalks winding through dunes, and the rare beauty of a coastal dune lake just steps away, this well-appointed campground fills quickly—so plan ahead and reserve your spot in this slice of Old Florida paradise.
Campground consists of two loops (Campground 1 and Campground 2) within a full-facility park; sites accommodate RVs and there are park cabins available per visitor reports.
The park conserves a portion of an early beach community corridor along Scenic Highway 30A and emphasizes geologic and ecological significance—particularly the protection of rare coastal dune lake and intact dune/Gulf habitats—rather than built historic features within Campground 2 itself. Weather and SeasonsTime your visit for spring or fall and you'll enjoy the sweet spot of mild temperatures, pleasant breezes, and fewer bugs—perfect for beach walks and trail exploration. Summer brings peak crowds along with Florida's signature heat and humidity, plus the possibility of afternoon thunderstorms and the need to keep one eye on tropical weather forecasts from June through November. That said, the park welcomes campers year-round, and even winter offers surprisingly mild days perfect for having the beach nearly to yourself.
Natural Features and SceneryYour campsite becomes a basecamp for exploring an incredible diversity of coastal ecosystems. Rolling sand dunes covered in scrub vegetation give way to maritime forest, where sand pines and live oaks create a shady canopy overhead. Follow the boardwalks over the dunes and you'll discover why Grayton's sugar-sand beach consistently ranks among America's finest. The park's crown jewel, Western Lake—one of only fifteen rare coastal dune lakes in the world—offers a brackish wonderland where freshwater mingles with the Gulf, creating unique habitats teeming with wildlife from marsh birds to sea turtles.
