Henderson Beach State Park Loop C sits on Florida's Emerald Coast, 60 pull-through and back-in sites just a boardwalk away from the Gulf. Sites run $30 per night with water and electric hookups, pea stone pads, and partial shade. Reservations fill up 6 to 8 months ahead, especially in summer.
The 'C Campground' caters to a variety of camping styles, including RV and tent camping. Sites accommodate both pull-through and back-in setups, with site-specific reservations.
Weather and SeasonsSummer delivers the warmest Gulf water and the longest beach days. Daytime highs run 85 to 92°F, water temps climb to 78 to 86°F. It's peak season for families and day visitors, which means full parking and the occasional wait at the single entrance gate. Summer also overlaps with tropical storm season and sea turtle nesting from May through August. Spring and fall bring quieter crowds but still draw plenty of campers. The park stays open year-round, though winter water temps drop enough to make swimming less appealing.

Natural Features and SceneryThe sugar-white sand comes from ancient Appalachian quartz crystals, ground down to powder over millennia. It meets Gulf water that stays clear far out from shore, the kind of emerald-green that shows up in every photo. A boardwalk cuts through coastal scrub and maritime forest between the campsites and beach. The park protects the last stretch of native coastal scrub habitat in Destin, what the shoreline looked like before development. The nature trail winds through dunes and vegetation, but wildlife sightings are sparse. Jellyfish show up in the water occasionally.
Geological RegionYour camping adventure unfolds along Florida's famed Emerald Coast, where Henderson Beach State Park showcases the region's geological wonders. Here, the signature sugar-white sand dunes—formed from ancient Appalachian quartz crystals—meet the warm, crystal-clear waters of the Gulf. This unique convergence of land and sea has created one of the most photographed and cherished coastal environments in the southeastern United States.
