Horseshoe Campground, Williams Fork Valley, Colorado
Anglers and early-rising road-trippers who can arrive weekday mornings will get a site along the Williams Fork River, RV pads fit up to 50 feet, and $23/night is hard to argue with at this elevation.
No potable water on site means hauling every drop yourself, and the pine beetle kill left sites fully sun-exposed, so summer afternoons with no shade canopy will grind on anyone without a good tarp setup.

Summer is the best bet here. Expect daytime temperatures between 60 and 80°F with nights dropping to 35–50°F. Afternoon thunderstorms roll through regularly. This is when the river runs safely for casual fishing and all trails stay accessible. The campground fills faster on summer weekends, so weekdays or early arrivals work better at a seven-site spot. Winter brings significant snow that closes access entirely.
Summer described as best: 60–80°F days, cool nights; river conditions favorable then.
Horseshoe Campground offers basic amenities suitable for tent and RV campers. The campground includes seven non-electric campsites equipped with a tent pad, fire grate, and picnic table. Additional facilities available are restrooms and trash service. However, potable water is not available on-site, and visitors are advised to bring their own. The campground is located along the Williams Fork River and is surrounded by an area affected by the mountain pine beetle epidemic, leading to limited shade.
