The elevation is 8,000 ft. The campground has two unnamed sections. Campsites in the front section can accommodate both tent and RV campers. The section in back (campsites 5, 14 through 19) is tent-only. A nice mix of young conifers and cottonwood provide some campsites with shade. Most campsites have a view of the dam as well as the Green Mountain Reservoir. Some of the pull- through parking aprons are parallel to the shoreline. There is no direct access to the lake. The nearby community of Heeney offers some services and limited groceries. The campground was formerly a site where the Green Mountain Dam construction workers lived. The land was terraced and wooden platforms were installed. Canvas tents were raised on those platforms and the workers lived here until the dam was completed in 1943. Once no longer needed, the temporary community was burned to the ground. Artifacts from those bygone days can be found in the campground.
Open May 18 through October 7 - weather dependent
