No potable water is a genuine logistical problem for anyone not planning to haul enough for the whole trip, and with only vault toilets and zero hookups, this is strictly for self-sufficient tent campers.

Best season: summer. Summer is the best time to visit for reliably warm, dry weather (daytime highs typically in the mid-70s to mid-80s°F, nights in the 50s–60s°F) and fully accessible water recreation. Swimming, shoreline fishing, and hiking the nearby trails are at their peak, and the small eight-site campground fills on weekend evenings so expect some company then. Bring sun protection and plenty of water—sites are primitive and offer a true back-to-basics beach experience. Peak months: July, August, September, June Avoid: December, January, February
