Best season: fall. Fall offers the best combination of comfortable weather, lower crowds, and peak river and forest scenery — expect warm afternoons (mid-60s to low 70s °F) and crisp nights (40s °F). Salmon/steelhead and trout fishing remain productive into the fall, trails are dry and easy to access, and the madrone and oak slopes take on warm tones that make the canyon especially photogenic. Weekdays are very quiet after Labor Day, but expect modest weekend use; fire restrictions and hunting seasons may apply,so Peak months: October, September, June, July Avoid: December, January, February, March

Steel Bridge Campground offers basic amenities suited for a rugged camping experience. There are no electricity, water, or sewage hookups, and potable water is unavailable. The site features vault toilets, bear-proof food storage lockers, picnic tables, and fire rings at individual campsites. Accessibility features include paved parking spurs and accessible vault toilets at select sites.
