Best season: winter. Winter offers the best combination of solitude, dramatic creek flows, and peak water-based scenery — expect cool, wet conditions with daytime highs commonly in the low 50s°F and crisp mornings around the upper 30s to low 40s°F. Higher stream flows make the East Fork especially scenic and improve fishing (steelhead/salmon-season viewing in some years), and trails and waterfalls look their best after storms. Crowd levels are low compared with summer, but come prepared for rain, muddy trails, and a Peak months: January, February, December, March
Winter gives best creek flows and scenery; open year‑round though wetter and cooler.
