This location is available on a first-come, first-served basis only. Visitors are required to physically arrive at the campground to purchase and claim a site. Once on-site, you may be able to pay for your campsite(s) by scanning a QR code using the Recreation.gov mobile app, and the Scan and Pay feature.
If this option is available, you will need to first download the free Recreation.gov mobile app https://www.recreation.gov/mobile-app prior to your arrival as some remote areas have limited or no cellular service.
<p>From Winthrop, drive 17.6 miles west on the North Cascades National Scenic Highway 20. Turn right onto NF-300 and drive about 1.3 miles until the campground. </p>

Summer offers the most reliable access and the warmest daytime weather (typically 65–80°F / 18–27°C with cool nights in the 40s–50s°F / 5–12°C), making it ideal for first-come, first-served camping at Klipchuck. Trails, viewpoints along the North Cascades Highway, wildlife viewing, photography, and scenic drives are at their peak; facilities are usually open and snow-free.
