Harts Pass Campground is located in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. This location is available on a first-come, first-served basis only. Visitors are required to physically arrive at the campground to purchase and claim a site. Once on-site, campers may pay for their campsite by scanning a QR code using the Recreation.gov mobile app and the Scan and Pay feature. Available campsites include Standard Nonelectric sites in the Scan and Pay loop. Access is from Winthrop by driving west on Highway 20 for 15 miles, turning right onto Lost River Road 9140 for 7.5 miles, then following Harts Pass Road 5400, a narrow, windy mountain gravel road with steep side cliffs, for 13 miles, turning left into the campground across from the Guard Station. Harts Pass Road 5400 prohibits trailers from June 1 to December 31, except snowmobile trailers allowed November 1 to December 31 to Cache Creek parking area.

<p>From Winthrop, drive west on Highway 20 for 15 miles, turn right onto Lost River Road 9140 for 7.5 miles. Paved road turns into gravel forest service Hart's Pass Road 5400. Follow gravel road for 13 miles then turn left into Harts Pass Campground (across from Guard Station). </p><p><strong>WARNING:</strong> Harts Pass Road 5400 is a narrow, windy mountain road with steep side cliffs in places. Yield to trucks. </p><p><strong>Trailers are not allowed</strong> on Harts Pass #5400 Road or on Chancellor Road 5400-700 from <strong>June 1 to December 31</strong> except snowmobile trailers are allowed November 1 to December 31 to Cache Creek parking area.</p>
