Best season: fall. Fall offers the best balance of mild daytime temperatures, thinner crowds, and colorful upland foliage and grasses around South Creek — expect daytime highs roughly 50–70°F in September, cooling into the 40s–50s by October. Creeks are lower and clearer after summer, making for quieter campsites, better stargazing, and prime wildlife watching; bugs are reduced and trails are less crowded. Weekdays are very quiet while weekends can still see moderate local use; always check for hunting seasons and Peak months: September, October, June, May
