Anyone towing a trailer: trailers are banned on Harts Pass Road #5400 from June 1 through December 31, which rules out the entire good-weather window. Also a problem if you're counting on cell service or a guaranteed site.

Best season: summer. Summer offers the clearest access and the best weather — expect daytime highs roughly 60–75°F and cool nights in the 35–50°F range at the higher-elevation Meadows campground. Wildflower-filled meadows, long daylight for hiking and photography, and reliable road access (Forest Service Road #5400 becoming gravel but typically open) make July–September ideal for backcountry solitude and day trips. Crowds are generally light compared with front-country parks because sites are first-come, first-servе Peak months: July, August, September Avoid: November, December, January, February
