Summer offers the clearest, most reliable access and the best weather for lakeside camping at 7,050 ft — expect daytime highs around 60–75°F and nighttime temps dropping into the mid-30s to 40s. The campground is typically open July through September with potable water available, making kayaking, fishing, and hiking on alpine trails at their peak. Crowds remain low compared with lower-elevation recreation areas, but you should still expect most use in July and August and check for any Forest- or Peak months: July, August, September Avoid: October, November, December, January

As a first-come, first-served campground, the payment process is facilitated through the Recreation.gov mobile app using a Scan and Pay feature, which requires prior download.
