Best season: summer. Summer delivers the most reliable access and the warmest, driest weather at 5,650 ft, with daytime highs typically in the mid-60s to mid-70s °F (around 18–24°C) and cool nights in the 30s–50s °F (2–12°C). Trails are snow-free, the Sisesh River is pleasant for wading, fishing (wild trout) and riverside relaxation, and mountain-biking and longer hikes are at their peak. Expect moderate crowds on summer weekends, especially in July and August, so book early and plan for mosquitoes in early summer;晚 Peak months: July, August, June, September Avoid: December, January, February
Best season is summer; peak season June 1–Sept 30 and potable water available then.
Chinook Campground offers a basic but scenic camping experience. Nestled along the Secesh River at an elevation of 5,650', it is designed for those seeking a more rustic camping adventure. Each of the nine campsites is equipped with a picnic table and a fire ring. While potable water is typically available from June to September, there are no hookups, trash receptacles, or additional facilities. Visitors are required to pack out their trash. "Outhouses available at the campsite," according to user reviews, but no mention of flush toilets or showers was made. Cell phone service may be limited in this remote area, as noted in the campground instructions to download the Recreation.gov app prior to arrival due to potential connectivity issues.
