Best season: summer. Summer is the best time to visit for reliable access, long daylight for trail riding, and warm, comfortable weather (daytime highs commonly 65–85°F, nights 35–50°F at 5,800 ft). Trails into the Trinity Alps and sections of the Pacific Crest Trail are fully open, making multi-day horse packing, hiking, fishing and stream-side swimming excellent. Expect moderate crowds — busy on summer weekends with other equestrian groups and hikers, but plenty of space for group rigs on weekdays. Peak months: July, August, June, September Avoid: November, December, January, February
Peak season Jun–Oct; reliable access and comfortable 65–85°F days ideal for riding and hiking.
