Holiday weekends, big rigs, or anyone counting on a parking spot. The last 10 miles of washboarded dirt road demands high clearance, there's no potable water on site, and four clustered sites share a trailhead with day-hikers all weekend.

<p>This campground is located at the north end of the Big Sandy Opening, along Big Sandy Creek approximately 60 miles southeast of Pinedale, Wyoming. It is a smaller campground, with 4 sites in the main loop and additional site near the Stock Trailhead for those visitors with horses. The campground is located next to Big Sandy Trailhead, which leads some of the most popular destinations in the Bridger Wilderness. Popular activities in the area include hiking, fishing, hunting, horseback riding, and photography. This is a primitive campground, there is no drinking water and you are required to pack out your own trash. Proper Food Storage is required.</p>

Summer is the reliable window here. July brings temps around 72°F during the day, dropping into the 20s–40s°F at night. Afternoons can deliver thunderstorms. Wildflowers bloom in the meadows. Snowpack affects road access well into late spring, and winter conditions bring deep snow and sub-freezing temps. One user came in early spring and found harsh conditions still lingering. Check road status before you drive out.

Big Sandy Campground is a primitive campground with few amenities. There are restrooms available, but there is no potable water, and campers must pack out their trash. Proper food storage is required due to wildlife in the area. The campground is designed for smaller setups, tent camping, and rugged trailers. There are no hookups or trash disposal facilities.
