Anglers and wilderness hikers who want cheap, direct access to Swift Creek Trail (#56) and Yellowstone Creek Trail (#57). At $8 a night, no hookups and no showers is an easy trade for riverside sites with cutthroat trout in casting distance.
Campers who forgot to bring water are in trouble from the start since there's no potable supply on-site. Add roaming cattle leaving droppings across the sites, unreliable cell service, and a reported vehicle break-in during a long hike, and light-prep campers will find this rough

The elevation is 8,000 ft. The campground, located on the southern side and edge of the High Uintas Wilderness and along the Yellowstone River, is a single loop through a mixture of River willows, Engelmann spruce and Aspen. Some camp sites are adjacent to the river and a small creek runs through the campground to the river. Although some camp sites have an unkept appearance, this rustic campground has a scenic beauty that is well suited for a wilderness- exploring base camp. The day-use area has ample parking for horse trailers and day hiker vehicles. A loading stock ramp, a couple feeding stalls and preparation area are available for trail rides into the wilderness. A host may occupy one camp site. This is bear country; practice safe food storage techniques.
Open Memorial Day through Labor Day
The parking aprons are dirt and gravel. A water spigot is located in the day- use area (just before campground) that is well suited for RVs.
