Best season: fall. Fall offers the best combination of crisp, stable weather and spectacular aspen color change — daytime highs commonly range from the low 50s to mid 60s°F with cold nights dipping into the 20s–40s°F. This is prime time for hiking the Fish Creek Trail, shore-side fishing as waters cool, and wildlife viewing (elk are more active and visible during the rut). Crowds thin compared with mid-summer, but note that autumn hunting seasons are active in parts of the Manti-La Sal range, so wear blaze orange, Peak months: September, October, July, August
