Mona Campground sits in the Willamette National Forest foothills near Blue River, operated by American Land & Leisure. This small seasonal campground offers fishing access and a quiet atmosphere with designated quiet hours. Sites accommodate both tents and RVs, with vault toilets, potable water, fire rings, and picnic tables throughout.
Mona Campground offers a mix of tent and RV camping, with options for single and double sites. Although the sites are paved and accommodate trailers and RVs, there are no electrical, water, or sewer hookups.
Weather and SeasonsBest season: summer. Summer offers the warmest, driest weather and peak reservoir recreation—expect daytime highs around 70–85°F (21–29°C) and cool nights near 45–55°F (7–13°C). Water activities (swimming, boating, and shore fishing) are at their best as the boat ramp and campground services are fully staffed and water levels are typically stable. Weekends and holiday weeks can be moderately busy, so reserve a site in advance for July–August to secure lakeside spots.
Peak months: July, August, June, September
Avoid: December, January, February
Elevation1453 ft above sea level
Natural Features and SceneryThe campground occupies a forested strip along Blue River Reservoir, where the water wraps around the edges of the camping area. Douglas firs, western hemlocks, and cedars create dense shade overhead. The reservoir itself was formed by Blue River Dam in a valley shaped by ancient volcanic activity. Thick understory vegetation screens most sites from each other, though morning mist often drifts across the water. The surrounding slopes show the layered green canopy typical of Cascade mixed conifer forests.
