Best season: summer. Summer offers reliably warm, dry weather (daytime highs commonly in the mid-70s to mid-80s °F / 24–30°C, evenings cooling into the 40s–50s °F / 5–12°C) and full access to Lake Billy Chinook for boating, swimming, and warm-water fishing. The campground is open and first-come, first-served sites are available in peak summer, so water recreation, long daylight hours, and calm canyon conditions are at their best. Expect moderate crowds on summer weekends, especially July–August, but the small 12‑sit Peak months: July, August, June, September Avoid: October, November, December, January
Summer has most reliable conditions; campground open May–Sep and clear late-summer skies.

Monty Campground is a small, rustic, and first-come, first-served campground on the lower Metolius River, featuring 12 sites. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and campfire ring with a grill. Vault toilets are available. However, campers must bring their own drinking water as none is provided on site. There are no electric or water hookups, and the access roads can be narrow and rough, making this campground best suited for tent camping. RVs and trailers are recommended to proceed cautiously.
