<p>Big Flat Campground and trailhead are located on the north side of the Trinity Alps Wilderness. Managed by the Klamath National Forest, this trailhead is accessed via Coffee Creek Road.</p>

Fall delivers the best combination of stable weather, low crowds, and crisp alpine scenery — daytime highs typically range from the mid-40s to mid-60s°F (5–18°C) with chilly nights often dropping into the 20s–30s°F (-6–2°C). Trails are usually snow-free by early September, making hikes to Caribou Lakes and ridge viewpoints ideal, and wildlife activity (elk, deer, and late-season birding) is very noticeable.
