Anyone without horses gets little advantage over the main lakeside campground, and the equestrian loop sits away from Lake Lincoln's beach and water views. No cell service and no camp store means come fully stocked.

The Los Banos Dam and Reservoir are on Los Banos Creek above the San Luis Canal, near Los Banos, California. The dam and reservoir are features on the Central Valley Project - San Luis Unit. The reservoir has 620 water surface acres and 12 miles of shoreline. The recreation area offers trails following the Path of the Padres, a boat and hiking trail. The Path leads to the baths used by the padres of early California. During the spring, guided interpretive tours are provided on the trail. The reservoir offers day use facilities for picnic and family activities. Fishing opportunities are available, and the reservoir is stocked during the fall and winter months with trout. A horse camp is available and there are equestrian trails for the horse enthusiast.
Site is about 6 miles south of the town of Los Banos on State Highway 165.

Spring is the standout season. Temperatures run 50–70°F, wildflowers carpet the forest floor, and trail conditions are firm to tacky. Ideal for riding. Dogwood blooms peak in April, and the park's full services (water, showers) come online April 1. Summer can be hot and crowded in the main recreation areas, though the equestrian loop stays quieter; pair morning rides with afternoon swims at Lake Lincoln. Fall delivers spectacular color across the hills and cooler saddle time, but book early. Campsites fill fast. Winter is possible but less supported; trails can be muddy or icy, and some services shut down.
Peak season with warm weather, perfect for water activities. Book early.

Missouri State Parks notes that park campgrounds may offer amenities such as hot showers, laundry facilities and dump stations; water and showers are usually available in the on-season (Apr. 1–Oct. 31). Picnic sites and picnic shelters are provided in the park; Lake Lincoln has a designated beach area for swimming.
