The great Outer Beach described by Thoreau in the 1800s is protected within the national seashore. Forty miles of pristine sandy beach, marshes, ponds, and uplands support diverse species. Lighthouses, cultural landscapes, and wild cranberry bogs offer a glimpse of Cape Cod's past and continuing ways of life. Swimming beaches and walking and biking trails beckon today's visitors.

The Sunrise House offers a unique and luxurious experience situated on a bluff with ocean views. It accommodates up to 10 guests in a spacious 4-bedroom, 1.5-bathroom house. The house is well-equipped with modern facilities including Wi-Fi, a washer and dryer, a fully equipped kitchen, a flat-screen TV with a Blu-Ray player, and a large deck with patio furnishings. Pillows, quilts, and fans are provided, but bedsheets and towels must be brought by guests. One review states, 'The house is very spacious, has everything you need and good internet.' Pets are not allowed, and there is no smoking permitted inside the house.
