No potable water on-site means hauling everything in. One reviewer called it 'not much of a campground,' and they weren't wrong if you expect any developed amenities beyond a vault toilet.

Summer is the reliable window here. Daytime temperatures run 70-85°F, nights drop to 40-50°F. Trails are snow-free, creeks are fishable, and fire restrictions permitting, evening campfires work well. Early September still offers good conditions before fall weather moves in. Winter brings heavy snow that can close access entirely. Spring means high, cold water from snowmelt. Summer weekends see moderate use, but with only two sites, the definition of 'crowded' is relative.
