<p><span itemprop="description">Elks Flat Campground is situated on the banks of the South Fork Boise River, at the foot of the Trinity Mountain Range, in Idaho. </span></p><p><span itemprop="description">The campground has 2 large group sites and 36 single/double sites. It is five miles north of the town of Pine. Visitors enjoy fishing, swimming and exploring trails in the surrounding area.</span></p><p><strong>Natural Features:</strong></p><p>The campground is settled in a grassy meadow. It is surrounded by stands of cottonwood, aspen, Douglas fir and ponderosa pine, at an elevation of 4,400 feet.</p><p><strong>Recreation:</strong></p><p>The South Fork Boise River runs along the eastern edge of the campground, offering rafting, swimming and fishing for rainbow trout. Paradise Hot Springs is nearby.</p><p>Green Creek Trail 270, a 4.5-mile trail for hiking, horseback riding and dirt bikes, begins a mile from the site. Cross Cut Trail 172 also begins close by and is open to hiking, biking, horseback riding and off-road vehicles.</p><p><strong>Nearby Attractions:</strong></p><p>Baumgartner Hot Springs is approximately 16 miles away with a soaking pool and nature trail. Kelly Creek Flats Recreation Area is adjacent to Baumgartner with several more trail opportunities.</p>

Best season: summer. Summer offers the best mix of warm, sunny weather and peak river conditions for swimming, rafting, boating and trout fishing. Expect cool mornings around 48°F and daytime highs typically 75–85°F, with bright skies roughly 80–85% of days and only a small chance of rain (~5–6%). Trails, boat access and campground services are fully operational but campsites fill quickly in July–August, so reservations are recommended.
