Yankee Fork Road runs just feet from the sites, so road noise and dust are real, not incidental. Anyone counting on a guaranteed spot should know there's no reservation system and only six sites to compete for.

September brings the best conditions. Daytime temperatures range from 50 to 70°F, with nights dropping to 20–40°F. Crowds disappear after Labor Day, but fishing stays strong as trout concentrate in cooler pools. Elk and deer movement increases in late summer and early fall, improving wildlife viewing. With only six sites, fall offers solitude that's harder to find in summer. Snow closes the campground by late October.
September noted as best; cooler temps, increased deer activity and peaceful conditions.
Campground amenities include a vault toilet, hand pump for drinking water but no full hookups.
