Best season: fall. Fall offers the best combination of comfortable weather and scenery — daytime highs at 4,200 ft are often in the 50s–60s°F (10–20°C) with crisp nights dipping into the 30s°F (0–5°C), and the ponderosa and riparian vegetation take on warm late-season color. Trails are less crowded after Labor Day, fishing stays productive as trout concentrate in cooler stretches of Mores Creek, and insect activity (mosquitoes/black flies) has largely subsided. Expect quieter campsites on weekdays and pleasant, sn Peak months: September, October, June, August
Fall delivers best conditions: cooler highs, quiet trails and late-season color in ponderosa and riparian areas.
