Best season: summer. Summer is the best time to visit Eastside for reliably warm, dry weather and full access to the reservoir and trails — expect daytime highs around 75–90°F and cool nights dropping into the low 40s–50s. Water-based activities (boating, paddling, and trout fishing) and the non-motorized Sagehen Reservoir Trail are at their peak, and forest hiking and biking are easy with long daylight hours. Expect moderate to busy crowds on summer weekends (especially July–early August) but plenty of solitude mid Peak months: July, August, June, September Avoid: December, January, February

Eastside Campground offers amenities suited for both individual and group campers. "Picnic tables, campfire rings, a vault toilet, and hand-pumped drinking water are provided." While the campground does not have its own firewood service, firewood can be purchased from a host located at the nearby Antelope Campground. A unique feature of the site is its partial lake views and well-shaded campsites due to the surrounding Ponderosa pine, Engelmann spruce, Douglas fir, and grand fir trees. Most campsites are conveniently located near the Sagehen Reservoir.
