<p>The East Fork Campground is located on a ridge above the East Fork of the San Juan River. Nestled amongst the Ponderosa pines and Gambel oaks are 26 campsites containing 17 reservable sites and the remaining first-come, first-serve. A few sites offer level pull-throughs. Although some sites look down to the river, the river is a long way down. Short, steep trails lead down to the river bank, offering plenty of fishing. At 7,700 ft., this campground can be warmer than many of the other campgrounds in the area.</p><p>Services include potable water, trash pickup, vault toilets, picnic tables, and fire grates.</p>
The elevation is 7,600 ft. This is a pretty little campground set in a mixture of mature conifers and Gamble oaks. It is convenient for day trips to Pagosa Springs (for the hot springs), Wolf Creek Pass and Treasure Falls. Firewood is available for a fee. This is bear country; practice safe food storage techniques.
Open May 8 through mid-November. No drinking water after September 15.
The water spigots are hand pumps.
The parking aprons are gravel.
From Pagosa Springs, CO, take US Rt. 160 east 9.8 miles to East Fork campground sign (Forest Rt. 667). Turn right at sign onto Rt. 667 (gravel) and go 0.8 miles to campground on right.

Best season: summer. Summer offers the best combination of warm, dry days and full access to trails and the riverside — daytime highs typically range from the mid-60s to mid-80s°F with cool nights in the 30s–40s°F. This is peak time for hiking, river and bank trout fishing, mountain biking, and exploring the volcanic geology and vistas without snow blocking higher routes. Expect the busiest weekends in mid-July through August (reservations recommended), but the weather and full services make it the most reliable and Peak months: July, August, September, June Avoid: October, November, December, January

East Fork Campground offers a variety of amenities including accessible vault toilets, drinking water via a hand pump, fire rings, picnic tables, and trash dumpsters. The sites are generally spacious and shaded by tall pine trees with some sites featuring views of the East Fork of the San Juan River. "Bathrooms were very clean and seemed well-maintained," according to numerous user reviews, though one user noted, "Bathrooms are cleaned only 1x a day as far as I could tell." Cell phone service is unavailable at the campground, but "just a short drive into Pagosa Springs" provides connectivity.
