Go if

Paddlers and snorkelers who book midweek get the most out of this place. The camper-only launch and swim area are real perks, and the shaded oak hammock sites stay cool even when summer air temps hit the 90s. Bring a cart for hauling kayaks.

Skip if

Weekend visits can trigger entrance closures before you even get in the gate, and the walk from campsites to the launch is long enough that several reviewers called it a deal-breaker without wheels. No hookups, no flush toilets, no cell service.
