Tight site spacing frustrates anyone with a large rig. Sewer hookup access is awkward on several sites, and falling limbs concern some visitors. Also: campground and cabins are closed for upgrades starting June 1, 2025, so check before booking.

Spring delivers the best camping window. Daytime highs typically run 70–85°F with nights in the 50s–60s, and humidity stays lower than summer months. Birdwatching and wildflowers peak in spring, though the river can flood in March and April. Winter visits around Christmas and New Year's have drawn positive reviews. Summer heat and humidity climb, but the tree canopy helps. Weekend crowds stay moderate in spring rather than heavy.
Peak season with warm weather, perfect for water activities. Book early.
