No potable water on-site means hauling your own, and the vault toilet draws complaints about smell in warm weather. Rigs over 30 feet will struggle on the tight spur turns, and the first-come setup means no guarantees on busy summer weekends.

Fall is the standout season. Days reach the upper 40s to mid-60s °F, nights drop to freezing or below, and the cold sharpens the aspens into bright yellows. Trout fishing improves as streams cool, trails dry out, and bugs disappear. Crowds thin to nothing at this small campground. Summer offers warm afternoons and cool nights, but afternoon thunderstorms are common and the seven sites fill fast on weekends. Winter buries the campground under heavy snow, and spring arrives late, often keeping the access road muddy into June. Early fall (late August through September) balances access, weather, and solitude better than any other window.
Described as the standout season: aspens turn bright yellow and trout fishing improves.
Potable water is not available at this site.
