Go if

Mountain bikers, ATV riders, and anyone chasing dark skies and wildflower meadows will find this plateau surprisingly uncrowded. Midweek arrival locks one of the six sites at $16/night with almost no competition.

Skip if

No potable water on-site is a real logistical ask, not a minor footnote. If your group can't reliably pack in enough water for the whole stay, the 9,000-foot elevation makes that miscalculation worse.
