<p>This campground is located on the east fork of Chiquito Creek. There is garbage service at entrance to campground. Please pack out what you pack in.</p><p>Each site has a table and fire ring.</p>
The elevation is 6,800 ft. The campground, pack it in, pack it out, stretches along Chiquito Creek for about 0.5 miles with informal camp sites scattered along creek's edge. A rustic campground with dispersed-like camp sites, this campground has an undeveloped feel. Several lush grass meadows in the area provide wildlife viewing opportunities. See the survival cabin built in 1952. Limited groceries, gas, and lots of good conversation are available at Jones Store, south of campground along the Sierra Vista Scenic Byway. In Oakhurst, CA, at the intersection of State Rt. 41 and Road 426, take Road 426 south and go 6.3 miles to Bass Lake sign. Turn left after sign, staying on Road 426, and go 0.9 miles to a stop sign. Turn left onto Road 222 and go 1.7 miles to another stop sign. Turn right onto Road 274 and go 2.3 miles to Chilkoot sign. Turn left after sign onto Beashore Road (Forest Rt. 7/Sierra Vista Scenic Byway) and go 23.2 miles to campground sign. Turn left at sign and go 0.6 miles to campground.

Summer brings the most reliable access and warmest conditions. Daytime highs run mid-60s to upper-70s°F, with nights dropping into the 30s–40s. July through October offer the best window, though wildfire and campfire restrictions become more likely as summer progresses. Holiday weekends fill quickly at this small campground. Winter blankets the area in snow, transforming access and usability. Early spring means lingering cold and possible snow. At 6,800 feet, conditions shift fast.
