No potable water on site means you're hauling everything in. Add the current forest closure due to tree danger, the 20-ft vehicle limit, and first-come-first-served availability on summer weekends, and planning around this place takes real commitment.

Campsites are located along Chiquito Creek. This is a large sandy flat with good shade. Boat parking is not available in the individual campsites. However, boats may be kept at the launch area or at Wagner's campground (private campground nearby).

Each site has table, grill and fire rings.

The elevation is 4,700 ft. The campground is composed of two sections stretching along the West Fork of Chiquito Creek. The section to the left of campground entrance is a loop through a wooded area. Parking aprons are informal in this section and could accommodate most any size RV. The section on the right is a spur with tight loop at the end. The size of this loop and trees growing close to inner loop make this section less RV friendly. This section has only a scattering of Ponderosa pine to provide shade; privacy between camp sites is poor. Also in this section, many camp sites are adjacent to creek and some have a sandy beach. Open Memorial Day weekend through October 1 - weather dependent
The parking aprons are dirt.
From North Fork, CA, take Road 225 east 3.7 miles to a "Y" intersection. Bear left onto Scenic Byway (Forest Rt. 81) and go 30.7 miles to campground sign. Turn left at sign into campground.
Compare with similar sites, watch availability, and build a packing list — Camp Sage handles all of it.
Open late May through early October, the campground sees daytime highs in the 70s and 80s during summer, with nights dropping to 40-50°F. This window offers the most reliable access and comfortable conditions for creekside camping. Weekends get moderately busy, so reserve ahead. Fire restrictions sometimes kick in during dry stretches in late summer. Spring and fall bring cooler temps and possible rain. Winter snowpack makes the area inaccessible and too cold for camping.
Open Memorial Day–Oct 1; summer highs in 70s–80s and swimming/fishing are prime then.
Potable water is not available at this site.
