Creek campers who pack in their own water and pack out everything will feel at home here. Weekday arrivals in June or July have the best shot at a quiet site under the pines, and the creek runs deep enough to swim with kids.
No potable water on-site is a genuine logistical problem if you're not prepared to haul every drop. Weekend visits can get loud when large groups move in, and the first-come-first-served setup means no guarantee of a site after a long drive.

Summer is the sweet spot. Daytime highs typically reach 65-85°F, with nights dropping to 40-55°F. The creek is warm enough for swimming, trails are accessible, and mosquitoes aren't as bad as at lower elevations. Weekends can get busy, but the small size keeps it quieter than valley campgrounds. Weekdays or early season offer the best chance at solitude. Winter brings snow. Sometimes a foot in a week. And freezing temperatures shut things down until spring. Late summer may bring fire restrictions.
Summer is the sweet spot: warm creek, accessible sites; campground open June–Sept.
Potable water is not available at this site.
