The campground sees a 95% sunshine rate during peak season, making June through September ideal for hiking and creek access. Early spring and late fall can bring up to 16 inches of snow. Holiday weekends see moderate crowds, but the site remains generally quiet for group camping.

Bowler Group Campground is a primitive facility located along Jackass Creek, offering 12 campsites. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and a fire ring. However, there are no other developed amenities such as running water, and the campground operates on a 'Pack it In, Pack it Out' basis. "Cell phone service is unavailable," and potable water is also not available, so campers are encouraged to come prepared. The nearest services are at the Jone's Store, which may not be immediately close by. A single vault toilet is provided, and horses are allowed, although dedicated horse facilities are not available. Visitors should take note: "This is Bear Country" and are urged to store food properly. Moreover, mosquito repellant is recommended.
