Planning your trip?Check out our camping packing checklist

Go if

Tent campers with a high-clearance vehicle who want to spread out and be left alone, sites are described as 'extremely large' with wide gaps between them, summer highs hover around 65-85°F, and 12 sites rarely fill except holiday weekends. Bring all your water.

Skip if

No potable water on-site is a hard stop for anyone who can't self-supply. Fall hunting season brings noise and trash complaints. Vault toilets often run out of paper and sanitizer, so pack your own or this will bother you.

Activities

About the campground

The elevation is 5,900 ft. This sprawling campground, pack it in, pack it out, is a single loop through an area where the "midget forest" of Pinyon pines and juniper meet towering Ponderosa pines. It is the wide spacing of camp sites and not the sagebrush that provides good privacy between sites. The campground is adjacent to Sespe Wilderness but no formal trails provide access from the campground.

Seasons & access

Open May 1 through October 31 - weather dependent

RV information

The parking aprons are dirt. Primarily because of access roads, the campground is best suited for slide-ins and pop-up tent campers. Also, rough and tight interior road make it difficult to maneuver travel trailers.
