Best season: spring. Spring offers the best combination of comfortable daytime weather, late-season wildflower displays, and firm trails for hiking, mountain biking and OHV use. Expect daytime highs roughly 60–75°F and cool nights dipping to the 30s–40s at 6,300 ft, ideal for long exploratory days and excellent stargazing after sunset. Crowds are typically light compared with summer, so you’ll enjoy the solitude and panoramic views across Lockwood Valley with minimal competition for campsites. Peak months: May, June, October, September Avoid: December, January, February, March
Marked best season: comfortable temps, wildflower displays and firm trails for activities.

Chuchupate Campground is a primitive-style facility located near Los Angeles, providing campers an escape from the city into a high desert environment. It offers 29 single campsites ideal for tent camping and RVs under 24 feet. The campground is self-sustained with no potable water, electricity, or dump stations. There are six vault toilets on-site, though reviews indicate mixed cleanliness. Campfires are permitted in designated fire rings only. Pets are allowed, but users are advised to bring their own firewood and practice 'pack it in, pack it out' waste methods as there are no trash bins.
