Best season: fall. Fall offers the clearest air and the most dramatic vistas from the 7,000-foot ridge — ideal for long, panoramic views of the Cuyama Badlands and the distant Channel Islands. Expect daytime highs around 50–70°F and crisp nights dropping to ~25–40°F (frost possible in October mornings); this weather is perfect for extended hikes, mountain biking, and wildlife viewing without the intense heat of the valleys.
