Best season: spring. Spring is the best time to visit Reyes Creek because mild days (about 55–75°F) and cool nights (mid-30s to mid-40s°F) bring the creek to life—higher flows, abundant wildflowers and active riparian birds, including prime opportunities for condor and raptor sightings. Hiking, fishing, swimming in the creek’s pools, and wildlife viewing are all at their peak while shade from the oak and cottonwood canopy keeps campsites comfortable. Expect moderate crowds on holiday weekends but generally quieter, Peak months: April, May, March, October Avoid: November, December
Spring is best: mild temps, higher creek flows, abundant wildflowers and prime raptor/condor viewing.

Reyes Creek Campground is a shaded, streamside location at 3,500 feet elevation. It provides 24 campsites that accommodate tents, truck campers, smaller RVs, and van conversions (RVs over 22 feet are not recommended). The campground features six vault toilets and fire rings but lacks potable water, dump stations, and shower facilities. Campers are advised to bring their own water and supplies as the nearest stores are approximately 40 miles away. Cell service is unreliable and only available uphill from the campground. Firewood is available for purchase on-site. Reviewers mention the maintenance varies, with some vault toilets described as clean while others are noted for unpleasant odors.
