Best season: summer. Summer offers the most reliable access and the best combination of comfortable mountain weather and full-service recreation — daytime highs average in the upper 60s°F with nights dipping into the mid-40s, making it a cool refuge from valley heat. All water activities (boating, fishing) and trails are open and trailheads are easy to reach, so hiking, biking, and wildlife viewing are at their peak. Expect busier weekends and holiday crowds, so plan and reserve sites in advance. Peak months: July, August, June, May Avoid: October, November, December, January
Best season noted; open Apr 18–Sep 19 with comfortable daytime highs in the upper 60s°F.
