<p><font style="background-color: rgb(250, 248, 223);">Developed campground near Silver Lake with 18 designated sites, some of which can accommodate RVs. Water is available via hand pump. Campfire rings and tables are provided.</font></p>
The elevation is 6,400 ft. The campground, one of two in Silver Lake Recreation Area, is rustic and a single loop in a dense stand of mixed conifers with the creek-size Susan River on one side and a swampy part of Silver Lake on the other. While none of the campsites are along Susan River, all are within walking distance. There are several spots in the river where wading is possible. Silver Lake, a pleasant canoeing lake, is 0.1 miles west of campground. Insect repellent is recommended. The Caribou Wilderness is about 1 mile from the Lassen National Forest 139 campground where the Caribou Lake Trail is also located. This is bear country; practice safe food storage techniques.

The water spigots are handpumps.
Silver Lake is 98 acres. Silver beach is 0.1 miles west of campground. The boat ramp is primitive.
The parking aprons are dirt.
In Westwood, CA, at intersection of State Rt. 36 and Cty. Rt. A21, take Rt. A21 north 14 miles to Silver Lake Rd. Turn left onto Siver Lake Rd. (dirt) and go 5 miles to an intersection with North Shore sign. Continue straight 0.1 miles to campground on right.

Best season: summer. Summer offers the warmest, most reliable weather for lakeside camping and swimming — expect daytime highs around 65–80°F and cool nights in the mid-30s to 50s at 6,480 ft. This is peak water season for Silver Lake, so swimming and lakeside relaxation are at their best, while trails and access roads are most likely to be snow-free. Expect moderate crowds (18 sites keeps it intimate), and be aware of afternoon thunderstorms and seasonal fire restrictions on the driest days.
