The elevation is 5,000 ft. This gorgeous campground, previously a gathering place for Native Americans in the summer, has two sections on either side of Domingo Springs. The first is a small four-site section of open campsites. The second section is a large loop that meanders through a stand of Douglas fir. The campsites are tucked in among fir trees and knolls of ancient porous lava rock. Tiny grassy meadows are scattered throughout but can't compare with the beautiful open expanse of Domingo Springs. Various plants cover the cold, crystal clear water. Birds and waterfowel are abundent. Peaceful, pretty and tranquil best describe this campground. Fresh, clear spring water is available from a tap across from campground. Possible day trip is Drakesbad Guest Ranch in Lassen Volcanic National Park. Reservations recommended for participation in guest actvities at the Ranch such as meals and horseback riding. Although the guest ranch is in the Park, there is no motor vehicle access from there into the heart of the Park. Access into the Park (Southwest entrance station) is via State Rt. 89, about 37 miles from campground. This is bear country; practice safe food storage techniques. Lassen National Forest 127
